Your website represents you, your product, or your services. If it’s messy, confusing, or it simply doesn’t feel right, people will think the same about your services or your product. You can increase your business significantly just by optimizing your website. Don’t allow people to get a bad first impression because it will influence on all of their decision from then on.

So, what can you do to make your website look more inviting and appealing to people?
Here are a couple of things that you can do today:

Intuitive Navigation

Websites tend to be overcrowded with less important information which ultimately hides the real reason why people clicked on your website in the first place. People want to find what they need with ease. Not everyone is a computer genius. Some might even get scared that they will somehow get a computer virus from all the things that popped up. Create an interface with intuitive navigation that shows only the primary, most important information. This information should have secondary information hidden behind it, revealed only after they move their mouse over that field. This way, you will lead them to what they want. Otherwise, they will just quit your website without putting much effort into finding what they initially came for. If you really want to display less important information on your front page, put it on the bottom so that it’s not the first thing people see when they enter.

Use the right font

You have to remember that the era where only PC’s ruled the Internet is over. Now, you have to take every device into consideration. If a font looks great on PC, it doesn’t necessarily have to look great on mobile phones too. A text may get distorted or even ugly when viewed from a mobile device so check what it looks like on every device before you put it out there for everyone to see. However, if you don’t want to waste your time checking how it looks like every time you change something, then simply use a universal font.

Buttons

Buttons like submit or send can be the ugliest part of a web page. When designing a website, people tend to overlook them because they don’t seem so important, but in reality, they are the most important part. It’s what completes the whole ordeal. It’s the end game for customers. So unless you want your customers to change their minds at the last second, you better do something about it.

Some web designers tend to overload websites with unimportant content such as images, videos or gifs which can be a big mistake. Overloading your site with different content that’s not relevant to your line of business will probably drive away your visitors. When a person visits your site, he wants to get the crucial information about your business, your offers, and contact details, not scroll around to see thousands of unimportant photographs. The key to success of your website is straightforward and attractive design.

Simplify your website by taking small steps

If your site is overloaded and you didn’t realize it until now, you need to start thinking about simplifying it. However, you cannot just erase everything you think you don’t need, and you need to pay attention and choose the content you want to leave. That content should be engaging, entertaining and simple so that all your visitors can understand it and hopefully ask for your services.

1. Essential elements

You might think your site is already focused on the main features, but it is surprising how many people are actually wrong in their judgment. Most of the website owners think everything they emphasized is the essential element, but the reality is different. Choose one or two things or offers that should always be in the center of attention, and emphasize them. The content will be simpler and easier to manage trough.

2. Throw out the unnecessary elements

Links in the footer are the typical example for unnecessary elements, sometimes people overload their pages with the links so much that the visitors just can’t stand them anymore. Driving away your visitors from the site surely isn’t your goal. Sidebar elements, social media sharing widgets and all the other things that make your websites overloaded and colorful need to go.

3. Less pages

The common mistake in web design is creating too many pages, for example, plenty of people separate about the website and about us pages which are everything but necessary. Throw away everything you know you don’t actually need, keep only the information that is absolutely essential and important for your business, also leave the engaging content that might attract more clients. Fewer places to click around means more attention to the important things should be readable and understandable to the majority.

How to improve your website

To make sure your site is doing the best it can for your business, you have to improve it continuously. Technology is developing very fast, and you have to accept all those changes and adjust your website to them. Here are a few basic tips that might improve your site performance.

1. Logo

The logo is probably the most important thing when it comes to business, and the familiar and entertaining logo can attract a lot more clients and create a sense of safeness in them. Make sure you choose the right place on your website for your logo, it has to be presentable and attractive to the audience.

2. Clean the clutter

No one likes to see a site overloaded with content, images, and videos. Make sure your website is clean, don’t use too many graphics and keep your paragraphs short. A bunch of unimportant things scattered across the site can only drive away your visitors. Keep it clean and emphasize the relevant content.

3.Use color wisely

The color is one of the most important things when it comes to web design. It can attract more clients, but it can also drive them away if it isn’t used correctly. Using a neutral color will create a sense of reliance and security in your customers. Don’t forget about the logo, the color of the site should complement the colors of your logo.

4. Professional photography

Sometimes having no photographs on your websites is better than having them. For example, if you use poor quality images or images that don’t have anything to do with your business, you can quickly drive away visitors. However, if you use professional photographs, your website will look sophisticated and elegant, especially if you hired your own professional photographer. If this is too complicated or too much for your budget to handle, you can opt for professional stock photos suitable for your line of business. If you want to emphasize a part of your content, add a photograph of a man looking in its direction, this way your visitors won’t miss the content.

Improve your website according to the psychology principles

Research into the human brain showed that brains have certain tendencies, and those exact tendencies are actually tips for improving your site’s performance.

1. Organize your content according to its importance

When making lists or writing articles, make sure the crucial information is at the beginning and the end of the page. Research showed that visitor’s attention is the lowest in the middle of the content, list, etc. When visitors scroll around your website, the information they read at the beginning and the end are most likely to stay in their short term memory.

2. Hide the losses, emphasize the gains

Every product and service naturally have both advantages and disadvantages. However, people don’t observe them the same way. People tend to overvalue losses and undervalue gains. However, there are a few tricks to make them equal. Benefits should be listed separately and emphasized while losses should be listed together. Emphasize the losses of not using your product or service, and you will certainly attract more customers. Make them act faster by creating limited time offers, and this way visitors won’t spend much time thinking about the flaws and benefits of your product.

3. Create supportive content

Other people thoughts have always been the best marketing tricks. People like to buy stuff that someone else already tried and approved. That’s why testimonials should be an essential part of your website’s content. Reviews from customers are an even better idea than they will get a full description that might make them decide and try your offer faster. Endorsements from influential people are always good for business, especially if that someone is famous or popular in your line of business. Trust seals, certificates, awards and other elements that testify to your success are also good for your website. Your visitors will value you more, and will probably look forward to working with your company.
